SURRENDERING ANGER FOR HAPPINESS

When we begin to feel angry about something, it is because something is occurring in our perception that we believe should not be happening. We unconsciously go about our days deciding and judging how things should be going. When something occurs that is in opposition to our plans, it surprises us and we become defensive. It is a reminder that we are not in control and that scares us. We have been leading our own lives, trying to figure out the right recipe for success. Each surprise is a reminder that our recipe is flawed. As long as we continue to attempt to run our own lives, there will be no end to this experience.

The solution to this problem is to begin to recognize that we cannot control our lives or the world about us. It is impossible to navigate the world on our own. In fact, we really do not want to navigate the world on our own. We want to allow our selves to be guided by the Holy One within us. When we begin to learn how to ask and listen to the Spirit of Life within us, we begin to enter into the easy, peaceful flow of life and ride along merrily, merrily down the stream. When a situation surprises us, we pause for a moment and ask Holy Spirit, "How do you want me to respond to this?" When the answer comes, and we follow it, no matter what, we discover that the action always leads us to a happier place. Life can be easy, if you ask Him what to do. Are you ready? Are you really ready to give up anger forever? Do you really want to be happy and have a happy, easy life? Then start asking and listen for the response, then do it.

A great tool for helping yourself to develop the habit of asking and receiving guidance can be found in Chapter 30 of the Text, Section I, The Rules for Decision.

WHY NOT NOW?

"Tolerance for pain may be high but not without limit." That means when I have come to a point where I can no longer take the emotional stress of what is occurring in my life, I will open up to another way of living. That is when I forgive and become willing to truly walk with the Holy Spirit.

Several years ago I remember a day or two of anger that occurred that really not only interrupted my peace but seemed to disrupt my entire life. I know now that I experienced what I needed to experience. I had not been in that place of anger in a very, very long time. Anything that anyone could say or what I could read that was Course-related meant nothing to me in the moment. I had to be where I was and as I was ready, I opened myself up to looking at the situation differently, which was also looking at myself differently. This included forgiving myself for not being as "spiritual" as the ego told me I wasn't being. So it prompted me to take my spiritual dedication to a deeper level (yet again). For many years I have taken the idea of practical application of the Course very seriously. And so, why not now?

And that's what I did. How many teachers of God admit when they have merely made a mistake? It is perfectly fine to make a mistake and then to move on. It is our own devotion to reprimand and punishment and pain that keeps us from moving forward. When I embrace the innocence that I am as the Holy Spirit sees me, overlook all that I see and seem to experience, then the happiness, the true happiness of the Father enters into my life. I have felt and experienced this. And how is that? By applying exactly as it all states in the Course, following my specialized curriculum sent to me by the Holy Spirit. Not cursing what has happened in my life but blessing each situation as an opportunity to forgive, heal and move forward into the Light. Many situations in my life have occurred over the years, the "trauma dramas" so to speak, the ones that the world would stand judgment on.

However, if I stay stuck on the questioning of why did this happen, why did that happen, O, I should have done this differently, or not, because of this such and such happening my life is ruined. This is not the truth. I am not what has happened to me. I am not the tragedies. I am God's Child Whom He loves and has never abandoned. All the experiences that I have had lead me to the greater truth if I so allow them. It leads me to God. All things are lessons that God would have me learn. Curse them and I curse myself. Bless them and I am free.

What do I experience when I imagine anger;

RED Blood
A Raging Bull
A Volcano about to Erupt
Boiling water
Burning

How does it feel?

SCARY,

How doe it feel when the volcano erupts?

Initially great; then great is replaced with guilt and guilt is replaced with self-hatred and self-hatred is replaced with beating myself up and then I get depressed.

How does it feel to be burning in rage?

Painful.

Do I like feeling pain and guilt? NO!

Is is possible I don't have to feel pain and guilt?

I ask Holy Spirit to give me another image.

I hear THINK PINK

What images do I have when I THINK PINK

Images of cooing babies all innocent and new
Pink cotton candy, sweet
Pink golden sunset - Beauty
Pink tulips and carnations- Spring, rebirth

How do I feel when I experience these images?

Peaceful and happy

Holy Spirit says imagine the pink becoming lighter and lighter

Ah!

The pink transforms into white Light

I sit in the Light and experience joy, peace. I AM HOME in the Light. I AM HOME in the PEACE, LOVE and JOY

Look at the Creative Power Holy Spirit reminds me I have: to transform the images of anger into Light, JOY and Peace.

Thank-you Holy Spirit for this Miracle of Transformation.
